Ruth is an artist, convener, constructor, conceptualiser & digger who lives in Sheffield, UK. Her practise takes a deep dive into the current infrastructures and systems we live by & see through, such as farming, water, education. Researching alongside people 'in the know', she creates spaces & moments to collectively pause, embody, experiment, listen & play.

Research based & participatory in its method the work manifests as live events, video works, publications, mapping, installations and walking, often combining some or all of them together. The making process is in responce to ongoing conversations and collaborative or collective research.

Residencies and Commissions

Commissions have come from Department for Education - Policy Lab (UK Goverment), Harris Museum (Preston), Arts Catalyst (London/Sheffield), Cornerhouse (Manchester), National Media Museum (Bradford), National Trust & Arts and Heritage (Cragside), BBC Radio 3 & Sound and Music, In Certain Places (Preston).

Residencies include Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wysing Arts Centre, Hull Time Based Arts, Braziers (Oxfordshire), Faculty of Engineering (University of Sheffield), In-Situ (Lancashire) and an Arts Council Fellowship in Colima, Mexico.

Performances, screenings and exhibited work include ICA (London), Arnolfini (Bristol), Kiasma (Helsinki), Site Gallery & Abandon Normal Devices Festival, Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art (Sunderland) with AV Festival, Dundee Contemporary Arts, Modern Art Oxford, Netwerk Centre for Contemporary Art, (Belgium), MK Gallery (Milton Keynes), Millennium Galleries (Sheffield).
